Baystate cutting back gender-affirming care for youth

SPRINGFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Baystate Health will no longer provide some gender-affirming care services such as hormone medications or puberty blockers for minors. These services will be transferred to a local healthcare organization after federal policy changes limit funding for hospitals providing such care. Baystate will continue to provide gender-affirming mental health counseling for youth.
