NORTHFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — With the emergence of spring, also comes brush fire season. On Wednesday, at least two brush fires broke out in Franklin County.

There was a reportedly out of control brush fire spreading towards a house on Pine Street in Northfield, which was quickly brought under control with no damage to structures. Another brush fire was reported on Creamery Avenue in Shelburne Falls.

The U.S. Drought monitor shows Franklin County to be split into “Abnormally Dry” and “Moderate Drought” as of March 17th. A less than ideal way to start brush fire season.
