Zip Code Changes Discussed At Community Forum In Whately

(Whately, MA) Whately residents attended a community forum on the potential town wide zip code change last week. Multiple zip codes currently exist for residents, causing issues with mailings, data collection, and other related matters, particularly when it comes to the portion of town using a South Deerfield zip code. The proposed solution is to put the entire town under one zip code, however some residents are concerned that may cause further issues. The Whately Selectboard has not yet determined if they will move forward with the zip code change.

(05/04/23) The Town of Whately is considering moving to one zip code for all residents and town addresses. Currently, the town uses three different zip codes and post offices that deliver mail and has resulted in some confusion for deliveries. The town would move to use 01093 for all residents and those who do not currently use that zip code would have to change their address with all agencies that utilize addresses such as the MassRMV, utility companies, banks, and the like. There is an open survey through the town website for residents to voice their opinion on the potential change.
